Fishing

The angler is spoilt for choice in Mid-Argyll with both sea and freshwater lochs available for fishing. Archie MacGilp runs Fyne Tackle in Lochgilphead high street from where permits can be obtained. Archie is well known in the area and is more than happy to advise the keen angler on the wealth of opportunities.

There are many fresh water hill lochs nestled up in Knapdale Forest where a day’s peaceful fishing can be enjoyed. If you want to travel slightly further afield Archie can organise trips/permits for fishing in Loch Awe which is around a half-hour drive from Achnamara.

Salt water fishing is also abundant throughout Kintyre and several charter boats are available to take you to the best places – contact Archie for further information.

In addition to salt and freshwater lochs, free fishing is available on the Crinan Canal.
